Death in Kenya is rich in suspense, romance, history - and fabulous local color. Herds of zebra and gazelle roam at will, baboons howl and leap in acacia groves and spear-bearing Masai warriors with ochre-smeared bodies are a not-uncommon sight. Years ago I read several of M. M. Kaye's books, most notably Far Pavilions. I enjoyed her writing but had never read any of her 'Death in..' series. I found Death in Kenya at a used book sale recently. It is a very well-written book, if somewhat dated (it was first published in ) and is worth the read/5.
I chose Death in Zanzibar mainly because of the author, but was a shade disappointed with this book set in present times, as compared to her historical work.
